What does a wireless surveillance system consists of?
Essentially, the wireless surveillance system consists of three parts – A surveillance camera, a hidden transmitter, and a device to record or view in real time.
-
The surveillance camera – the camera that is used for the wireless surveillance system is very small and can be fitted discreetly in any of the items such as radios, picture frames, flower vases, etc so that it is not visible to anyone. The camera can be Black and White or color depending upon your choice. In addition, the various characteristics of cameras offer a large range to choose from and the budget varies accordingly as per the characteristics of the camera. Some of the characteristics that are important while selection of camera are its resolution, ‘lux’ i.e. its sensitivity to light, range, and scope i.e. forward-looking and side looking characteristics, power source, etc.
-
Transmitter – this is a very important part of any wireless surveillance system because it helps to transmit the image from camera to the monitoring or recording device such as the TV or a monitor. The transmitters should be powerful so that it has more range, should be multidirectional or Uni-directional depending upon the choice and function, should have a large backup power, and should be small and discreet so that it is not visible to anyone.
-
Receiver / Recording or viewing device – this can be either a CCTV or a monitor. It can also be hooked up to some recording device such as a VCR or a computer. Depending upon the type of task that is being done by the wireless surveillance system, it can be color or Black and white monitor/CCTV. Also, but should keep track of the resolution as well as characteristics of picture being displayed.
Installation of wireless surveillance system
There is nothing very complicated about installing a wireless surveillance system because all the devices used in it are plug and play type, i.e. it is ready for connectivity with the minimum of installation and can be done by anyone a little knowledge and do-it-yourself skills.
The camera should be installed discreetly and if required, help of specialists should be taken when it is placed in objects such as walls, photo frames, their conditioners, radio sets, etc.
The cameras would need focusing before you could start monitoring it therefore, it is essential that this should be done keeping in view the object that has to be recorded. The distances up to which the task with the can send the images varies upon the factors like power source, type of camera, resolution and ‘lux’.
Wireless surveillance system is generally quite a reliable method of monitoring any area which pays rich dividends by cutting down on work force and making round-the-clock surveillance possible without much effort.
